Understand Your Options Before You Make a Financial Decision.
Life insurance and retirement planning can be complicated.
My job is to help you understand what you already have, identify what you're trying to accomplish, answer your questions, and explain your options without pressure.
Sometimes that means making a change. Sometimes it means keeping what you already have.
Financial Decisions Don't Happen in Isolation
You may have a 401(k), IRA, life insurance, savings, investments, Social Security and other financial resources.
But owning financial products doesn't necessarily mean you have a coordinated financial strategy.
Decisions in one area can affect another.
You could:
- Pay more in retirement taxes than expected.
- Discover your family doesn't have enough financial protection.
- Take more market risk than you're comfortable with.
- Reach retirement without a clear strategy for turning savings into income.
- Be forced to use savings or retirement assets because of an unexpected illness or injury.
The question isn't simply “What financial products do I own?”
It's “Are the financial decisions I'm making helping me accomplish what I actually want?”
The Hardest Time to Discover a Gap in Your Financial Plan Is When You Need It Most
Most financial problems don't feel urgent until something changes.
Retirement gets closer.
The market drops.
Taxes are higher than expected.
Someone becomes seriously ill or injured.
A spouse passes away.
Or you realize the retirement savings you've spent decades accumulating now have to provide income for the rest of your life.
That's when questions that were easy to postpone suddenly become important.
Will my family be financially protected?
How much of my retirement income will I actually get to keep?
What happens if I can't work because of an illness or injury?
Will my money last as long as I do?
The best time to answer those questions is before you need the answers.
Financial Advice Should Start With You
Before discussing strategies or products, we start by looking at your situation.
What do you already have?
What's important to you?
What are you trying to accomplish?
What concerns or questions do you have?
Only after understanding those things do we explore strategies that may be appropriate for your situation.

Meet Jason Bowers
For more than 10 years, I've worked with families, professionals and business owners on decisions involving life insurance, retirement and financial protection.
My interest in financial education became personal after experiencing how quickly financial circumstances can change during the 2008 financial crisis. That experience changed the way I looked at financial planning and eventually shaped the way I work with clients today.
I believe people deserve straightforward explanations, honest answers and someone willing to take the time to listen.
My goal is to build long-term relationships with the families I serve and be someone they can call when financial questions arise.
Our Why
Most families don't have a shortage of financial products. They have a shortage of understanding how all the pieces fit together.
Retirement accounts, taxes, insurance, Social Security, savings, investments and income decisions can affect one another.
Wealth Shield Consultants was created to help families see that bigger picture.
We believe every financial strategy should have a purpose and every piece should support what you're ultimately trying to accomplish.
Because a collection of financial products isn't the same thing as a financial strategy.

How Will My Retirement Income Be Taxed?
Saving for retirement is only part of the equation. How and when you use that money can affect how much of your retirement income you actually get to keep.
Different accounts can receive different tax treatment, and withdrawals from traditional retirement accounts may create taxable income in retirement.
We help you understand how your retirement savings are structured and explore strategies that may provide greater flexibility when creating retirement income.
Areas we can help you understand include:
-
401(k)s and IRAs
-
Roth accounts and tax-free qualified withdrawals
-
Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs)
-
Social Security and retirement income considerations
-
Tax-deferred and tax-advantaged strategies
-
Creating greater tax diversification in retirement
The goal is to help you understand where your retirement income may come from, how it may be taxed, and what options you have before retirement.
What Happens Financially If I Become Seriously Ill or Injured?
A serious illness or injury can affect more than your health. It can also affect your income, savings, and retirement plans especially if you're unable to work for an extended period.
That's why financial protection shouldn't only focus on what happens when you die. It can also include strategies designed to provide financial resources while you're living.
We help families understand protection strategies that may provide access to funds following certain qualifying illnesses or injuries.
Depending on the policy and available benefits, protection may include:
-
Terminal illness
-
Chronic illness
-
Critical illness
-
Critical injury
-
Certain qualifying conditions or events
-
Life insurance with living benefits
-
Income and family protection strategies
These benefits may provide an additional financial resource during a difficult time, potentially reducing the need to rely entirely on savings or retirement assets.
Will My Money Last Through Retirement?
Having money saved for retirement and knowing how to turn those savings into dependable retirement income are two different things.
How long your money lasts can depend on your spending, Social Security, taxes, inflation, market performance, retirement age, longevity, and the types of accounts and income sources you have.
We help you look at the bigger picture and understand how your different retirement resources may work together.
Areas we can help you explore include:
-
Retirement income planning
-
Social Security
-
401(k)s, IRAs and other retirement accounts
-
Market risk and retirement timing
-
Inflation and longevity
-
Annuities and lifetime-income strategies
-
Tax-efficient withdrawal strategies
-
Life insurance and other financial protection strategies
-
Creating income from your accumulated assets
The goal isn't simply to reach retirement with a large account balance.
It's to have a strategy for turning what you've accumulated into income that supports the retirement you want to live.
